Since moving into our new home my husband and I have been discussing ways we can incorporate scripture into our decorating. It has been a dream of ours to have God's word in every room and I promised my husband when we got settled in I would get right to work on that project. (I've got index cards and post it notes stuck here and there but that's not really what we have in mind.)
I remember many years ago a dear friend painted a verse all around her family room in her own beautiful handwriting and I loved it. Still to this day whenever I visit her home I admire her work. She painted Deuteronomy 6:5 around the top of the room (where you might place a wallpaper border) Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
One of my favorite places to visit recently had a contest for this very thing and the entries were fantastic! I am so inspired I want to get started right away on our home!
Maybe you will be inspired too. Take a look at these clever and beautiful ideas and PLEASE if you've done anything similar in your home do share!!
I love all of these ideas! My husband has been talking about wanting a dining room table with scripture for a long time. I'm LOVING the one pictured above.
After viewing these pictures lots of creative thoughts are rolling around in my head. Now to find time to put my thoughts into action!
Deuteronomy 6:9 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
so cool!
ReplyDeleteI like the one from Joshua 24 by the front door to see it every time you go out into the mission field! In Kingsport, I had cabinets like those pictured. Wish I'd thought to do that on them.
ReplyDeleteI love the one at the front door and also the table was great. There were so many in the Doorpost contest I would have had an awful time picking a winner. I have thought about buying something like this at Hobby Lobby. I could never do it free hand I would make a mess. Oh and the chalkboard is a wonderful idea. I would love to put up a pretty chalkboard or find a spot to try the chalkboard paint. The competition inspired me to fill our walls with scripture too!
ReplyDeleteI also meant to tell you thank you for that sweet email you sent. I just realized you had emailed me today. That was very thoughtful!
