Cleaning Your Washing Machine

If you are doing the 30 Days to Ultimate Clean Challenge I'd really love to hear how it is going for you.  The bigger jobs are taking a lot more time than I planned.  I cleaned out my purse and wallet no problem and was very pleased with the results, but I finished only part of cleaning the van and half of cleaning the garage.  I must say, we have a lot going on in our family right now (I mean A LOT) but still, I was hoping to complete these tasks not just get a start on them.  I suppose, considering we've had several doctor's appointments in a couple of days, and a sweet boy recovering, I shouldn't get caught up in these things I want to get done.  I will just be thankful.  :)

Today's challenge is to clean the washing machine and even though I'm late, I do have those tips I promised.

These three easy steps come from Better Homes and Gardens.

Step One  Run an empty, regular cycle on hot, using 2 cups of vinegar instead of detergent.  The hot water-vinegar combo removes and prevents bacteria growth.

Step Two  In a bucket or nearby sink, mix about 1/4 cup vinegar with a quart of warm water.  Use this mixture, plus a sponge and dedicated toothbrush, to clean the inside of the machine.  Pay special attention to soap and other dispensers, the inside of the door, and if you have a front loading machine, the rubber seal.  Give the machine's exterior a quick wipe down, too.

Step Three  Run one more empty, regular cycle on hot, without detergent or vinegar.  Done!

  2. Did you clean your washing machine yet, Sarah? I did it and I couldn't believe the difference. I hope you are pleased too. It's funny how such a small thing made a big difference to me.

Nic is still having a very difficult time. We had hoped for more improvement by now. He still has a terrible headache and is dizzy and very weak. He is getting discouraged because there are so many things he wants to do and can't. Thank you for asking about him and most of all for praying. We want him to get back to his normal, happy, energetic self so bad and it is hard to be patient and not fear.
