Fall Bucket List

Over the weekend our family returned home from vacation.  We had a most splendid time at the beach soaking up the sun and making memories.  After a week of endless food and endless fun it's time to get back to real life.  I can honestly say I don't really mind that.  I love being home just as much as I love being on vacation.

Our last day of summer and literally THE last day of summer.

The beach is always a place where I contemplate God and His amazing creativity, His awesome power, and His love for us.  My honey and I like to sit at the edge of the water and gaze out at the ocean.  One afternoon my husband asked me how in the world people can deny the existence of God when looking at His creation, especially the ocean.  He said, "How can one think this happened by accident?" and I answered, "I don't think they really do".  You see, I think in one's heart there's a knowing/sensing of God.  I feel extra close to God when I spend time surrounded by the glories of His creation.  You know the verse, "Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10).  I  believe that's what happens to me when I am at the beach, or in the mountains.  I am still...and I KNOW that He is God!
Who dost establish the mountains by His strength,  Being girded with might;  Who dost still the roaring seas,  The roaring of their waves,  And the tumult of the peoples.  And they who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in awe of Thy signs;  Thou dost make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy.  Psalm 65:6-8

On a funny note, one of the last things my mother in law said to me before we parted ways was, "Now it's time to go back to our same old problems".  I laughed and brushed that thought away quickly..."what problems?" I thought in my head.  A few hours later I broke a tooth right in half, came home to an empty fridge, that very night one of my sons was throwing up, the next night another son was really throwing up and I said to myself, "yes, back to our same old problems" and I think I might have even mumbled, "LOL" to myself.

Now that we are home (truly, my favorite place to be) I've decided to put together a Fall Bucket List.  Time seems to be speeding by so fast lately and I feel like I'm losing my grip on it.  I figured if I made a list I would be more likely to do, and enjoy, the things I love about Autumn.  Since Fall is officially here now I want to encourage you to do the same.  Jot down your Fall Bucket List today or make one with your family tonight after dinner.

  2. My favorite craft fair is in Dayton, just outside of Harrisonburg. Is that near you? My sister lives there. It's the first Saturday in October and it is WONDERFUL! When I lived in Christiansburg I used to go every single year. Now that we are in Chattanooga, Tennessee it is a little more difficult but this year I really want to go. If that's any where close to you, you won't be disappointed. Great crafts, yummy food, live music, beautiful surroundings!
