HOMEMADE ICE CREAM IN A BAG

  • 2 TBS sugar
  • 1 cup half & half
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup salt (kosher or rock salt)
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill each gallon size Ziploc bag about half full)
  • 1 pint size Ziploc bag
  • 1 gallon size Ziploc bag
(1)  Combine the sugar, half & half, and vanilla in the pint size bag and seal.

(2)  Place the salt and ice in the gallon size bag, then place the sealed smaller bag inside as well.  Seal the larger bag.  Shake the bags until the mixture hardens.  (about 5 minutes)  Feel the small bag to determine when it's done.

(3)  Take the smaller bag out of the larger one, add mix-ins and eat the ice cream right out of the bag.  YUM!!  Easy clean up too!  Serves 1.

  1. Hey, we did this on our 4th of July campout at Lake Sherwood in West Virginia. It was a treat. So if you are wondering if it really works, Stephanie did this recipe with her and my family. It works and my kids loved it. Great memories!!!!
Come to think about it we had another great 4th of July memory in Knoxville. Those fireworks you brought were some fireworks, especially THE TENNESSEE KICKER....LOL Scott jumping around like a rabbit and you knocking everyone down in your path to get into a safe place. That was a memory!!! Hope to see you all soon. Take care!!
    Love ya,
    Teresa
