Blueberry Picking

Tomorrow is the big day!!  The kiddos and I are headed out early in the morning to go blueberry picking!

Our family LOVES blueberries.  Does yours?  I am looking for the yummiest blueberry recipes ever.  Do you have one?  We are interested in making blueberry jam this year.  If you have a fabulous recipe please send it my way.

Thanks!

  1. We love blueberries in my family too. In our neck of the woods we won't have blueberries ripe enough to pick until mid July. Especially since we have had a very cool wet season so far. Have you ever made "Blueberry Buckle"? One of our favorites.

  2. Hi Jennifer! I would love to have your recipe for Blueberry Buckle. If you want to pass it on I will post it with a link to your blog. We picked yesterday and came home with a lot of blueberries. We've been snacking on them since yesterday afternoon and today I made blueberry pancakes for breakfast and they were yummy!

  3. Hey there!!!! We went picking early this morning. We have froze 9 quarts and we still have about 5 quarts to snack on. I also would love any blueberry recipes you can pass on. I have an awesome recipe for a blueberry cobbler I will email you. It is from a cookbook Scott brought me from a Bob Evans restaurant. It is so good and the best that I have tried.

    Love,
    Teresa

  4. Hi Stephanie, Here is the recipe I use for Blueberry Buckle. Mix together the following;
    3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup Crisco, (beat them together until fluffy) add 1 egg and beat well. Add to mixture 2 Cups flour, 2 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 tsp almond extract (if desired). Spread the mixture into a greased 8x8x2 baking dish. On top of this layer cover with 2 cups of blueberries. Next will be the crumb layer; Mix together 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts (if desired) and 1/4 cup cold butter. Mix together until you have a crumbly mixture and then spread over the top of blueberries. Bake in 350 oven 45-50 minutes or until golden on top.
